Before this exercise, you must:
- Give a current version of your resume to two fellow Grrls
- Receive the resumes of two fellow Grrls
Once you receive the resumes of your fellow women, review carefully. Consider the following:
- What common themes are present in this Grrl’s past accomplishments?
- What sort of passions and interests seem to motivate her?
- What are her apparent strengths?
Let this all sit on the back burner for a while. Go for a jog. Make dinner. Solve world hunger. Once it’s percolated, ask yourself what this Grrl, given the answers to the question above, will have accomplished five years from now. Take this information and turn it into a creative future edition of this Grrl’s resume.
In fact, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a resume — it can be an email to a friend outlining what the Grrl has done in the past five years. The goal is to produce a document that when returned will allow your Grrl to consider a different possible career path.
Of course, you’ll do this for both resumes — so you may end up with two solutions to world hunger.
Bring the two Resume + 5’s with you to the next DinnerGrrls. You’ll get two future versions of your own resume back, and when you provide the Grrls with future versions of theirs, the owner can then say, “Wow, I never would have considered this an option” or “Is that what my resume suggests about me?!”
