The New York City chapter of DinnerGrrls.org would like to thank DinnerGuest Lynn Harris for joining us last night for dinner. Lynn was a source of a tremendous amount of advice and inspiration. Just by sharing her story of her own career development she offered an encouraging example to her younger sisters.
Lynn Harris, BA Yale 1990
Writer, author, journalist, and comedian
Lynn is perhaps best known as the co-creator — and alter-ego — of the superhero Breakup Girl, whose virtual headquarters are the award-winning website BreakupGirl. Through comic adventures and literate advice — written by Lynn — Breakup Girl helps both and far beyond. Lynn is the author of three books offering serious (and “co-ed”) relationship advice in a humorous light, including “Breakup Girl to the Rescue!” Since November 2001, Lynn has served as Glamour magazine’s new advice columnist; Lynn also writes for the New York Times, Salon.com, Slate.com, Nerve.com, the New York Observer, the New York Daily News, Entertainment Weekly, most women’s and men’s magazines, and is a featured columnist on match.com. Lynn has also appeared as a comic commentator on the radio and the printed page, as well as on TV shows such as Good Morning America, Today, Montel Williams, and Queen Latifah. On stage, Lynn was star and co-writer of “Breakup Girl LIVE,” Gotham Comedy Club’s longest-running variety show; she continues to standup comedy regularly in New York City clubs.
