From an interview of Jewcy.com editor and SaveTheAssistants.com founder and editor Lilit Marcus at The Undomestic Goddess [emphasis mine]:
What does feminism mean to you?
Feminism is a way of life. It’s not only about a court case here or a job promotion here – it is an ongoing, evolving way of looking at the world. When I am only buying a couple of things and there’s a mom with several screaming kids behind me in line, I let her go first, and that’s a feminist act. When I take a chance on a new book by a female author, that’s a feminist act. Attending a synagogue where men and women pray together instead of on opposite sides of a wall is a feminist act. I think feminism is about making sure that women – and by association, all other marginalized people – are treated with respect and that attention is paid to their welfare. On the holiday of Passover, Jews say that because we were once slaves in Egypt but now are free, we must help those who were once slaves to become free. I take this to mean that those of us who have experienced privilege have an obligation to aid those who have not.
